iPhone: Photo Sync Sucks

I love my iPhone… I only wish it was truly ‘complete’. The music/video/calling aspects of it are awesome… although I wish it were easier to access and find contacts.

I’m having problems getting my photos on the iPhone. I have 7,000 of them… but even syncing just one folder with 25 photos doesn’t work. When you initially add a folder of photos to sync in itunes it first ‘optimizes’ the photos before sending them to the phone. Nearly all of the photos that end up on my iPhone are corrupted… they have lines through them and other pixelation. I’m assuming this occurs during the ‘optimizing’ process. Also, to further irritate me… if I tell it to sync ALL of my photos in my windows ‘pictures’ folder itunes crashes in the middle of the ‘optimization’ process.

I used photoshop to process all of my images (all 7,000) and resize them to 1028×768. I then tried to sync all of these… I’m still having the same problem and the majority of the images are corrupt (the ones that actually make it onto the phone before itunes crashes my windows vista machine.

This is what I spent $600 on. I guess I’ll be content with the other features that do actually work for now. Perhaps apple can get its dev testers to actually use a windows vista machine as part of their development process…
